Taking a Look
around Koh Kho Khao

The island is quite easy to get around, but public transportation
is lacking so you will need to hire a taxi or rent a car or motor
bike to explore the island.
Traffic is very light, so this is one of the
few places in Thailand where it is somewhat safe for the uninitiated
to cruise about on a small motorbike.
Keep your speed down, this is really a very
rural area and no one is in a hurry to do anything. Locals
will often be parked in the middle of the main road chatting with a
friend or neighbor that is passing by.
Even at a fairly leisurely pace you can
explore most of the island easily in a day or two. If you are
staying longer than that, take your time and explore the northern
part of the island one day, the mangrove forest areas along the east
coast and the west coast beaches on the next.
Local restaurants and resorts will have
maps of the island and they are
reasonably accurate for finding your way around. The island isn't
too big and there aren't a lot of roads, so you can't really get
very lost. Just get out there, take your time - and enjoy.
Don't forget to take your camera!
